Even with the onset of this year’s monsoon, the areas of the dams that supply water to Mumbai have received very little rainfall. The month of June recorded about 70 per cent less rainfall than the previous year.
The city will have 10 per cent water cut from Monday (June 27). Therefore, all citizens are urged to use water sparingly. Municipal Corporation supplies water to Thane, Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation and other villages. The 10 per cent reduction will be applicable. The water cut will continue until the condition of useful water storage in the reservoirs supplying water to Mumbai improves.
