The unfortunate accident took place yesterday when a 4-storey building at Naiknagar in Kurla Nehrunagar collapsed. The crash killed 19 people and injured 13. The injured are undergoing treatment at Sion and Rajawadi hospitals. The fire brigade and NDRF tried their best to evacuate the civilians trapped under the pile.
According to police in the case, the BMC had issued a notice to vacate the building saying it was dilapidated, yet the flat owners in the building and others gave the tenants a house to live in. Police have registered cases against flat owners Rajni Rathore, Kishore Narayan Chavan, Balkrishna Rathore, Dilip Vishwas and other homeowners under sections 304 (2), 308, 338, 337 and 34.
