In the first quarter, April-June 2022, Central Railway collected Rs 103.39 crore from free passengers. This action is being taken by Central Railway to prevent free passengers. This action has led to a significant increase in the number of free passengers on the Central Railway. Senior officials are keeping a close watch on the revenue collected from free passengers due to non-insect travel and other such irregularities.
The Central Railway’s ticket inspection team has collected a record ticket inspection revenue of Rs 103.39 crore from free passengers in the first quarter of April-June 2022. In the month of June 2022, Central Railway has recorded revenue of Rs 31.78 crore through 4.83 lakh cases of uninfected / irregular travel with unbooked luggage.In the first quarter of April-June 2022, a total of 14.94 lakh cases of insect / irregular travel and unbooked luggage were detected, compared to 5.04 lakh cases during the same period last year, an increase of 196.32%.
Revenue from non-insect / irregular travel has been recorded at Rs.103.39 crore for the first quarter i.e. April-June 2022, showing an increase of 227.40% over Rs.31.58 crore recorded during the same period last year. Central Railway is appealing to passengers to travel with proper and valid train tickets to avoid inconvenience and to travel with dignity.
