Earthquake Shakes Afghanistan; 255 deaths

An earthquake shook neighboring Afghanistan this morning. According to the information received, the shock was 6.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was reported below the ground, however; no tsunami alert was issued. The quake affected Paktika province in southeastern Afghanistan. At least 255 people have been killed so far in the quake. The quake damaged several homes.

Hundreds of people have been crushed under the rubble. As soon as the quake was reported, the administration started working for rescue and helicopters have also been deployed. The quake was so strong that it shook Lahore, Multan and Quetta in neighboring Pakistan.
