Mumbai. The traffic police have made it mandatory for the occupants of the bikes to wear helmets. The Mumbai Police recently issued a directive stating that “Violation of this will result in a fine of ₹ 500 and suspension of the driving license for 3 months.”
The new rule will take effect on June 9. Currently, traffic police impose fines of ₹ 500 on drivers without helmets or suspend their licenses. The same penalty will be levied on those who sit behind without a helmet.
